elyse here. Can I get a woot woot from my Ren & Stimpy fans out there? Powdered Toast Man? Genius. I love this kind of wacked out craziness. In fact, I try to surround myself with kind people (a.k.a. friends) who possess unusual senses of humor. It definitely keeps things interesting and provides a significant reference point for understanding my own psychoses. ha! Friends are great, aren't they? I'm blessed with an abundance of them and highly value the best ones. As my grandma once said, "Many people will walk in and out of your life. It's only true friends that will leave footprints in your heart." AWWW... grandma knew best.
In other news: Sorry no new items were listed last week!! I know lots of you eagerly await the weekly facebook posts (sundays) which showcase my newly completed items... I am currently away from my studio but will be returning to San Diego this evening! YAY! Having not been very creative for the past week, I am bubbling with ideas and am anxious to get back to sewing. There will certainly be some new stuff to look at this week.
Hey all! I'm excited to announce that I will be at some Phish shows this summer. Wear your handcrafted items at the Hollywood Bowl and at the Tahoe shows if you want to meet me. If I see you, I will come up to you and introduce myself :o) (That may be an understatement because I always get so excited to see peeps in my threads). Of course, I will be finding some good shakedown spots and should have a good stock of dresses with me for purchase. Make sure to look for me and my rolling clothes rack.
I also may be attending the Outside Lands Festival and High Sierrra. More info to come about that.
Thanks again to everyone for loving my creations!!!
Do you live for the present? In a Utopia, we'd all live that way. But we're human. Our minds have the ability to consume us with troubles of the past and worries about the future. Freeing ourselves from these metaphysical chains is an arduous task but a substantially important one. Living in the present can lead you towards a most balanced lifestyle. I am not saying you should squander your savings and live dangerously. The present is more minute than you think.
Maybe the issue why we humans have problems with the concept is that the past, present and future have too large of a scale for the brain to properly decipher. For example, the sentence I just wrote is technically in the past and the one I'm about to write is in the future. How do we pinpoint the present? It is a fleeting infinitely small amount of time.
Balancing on the tightrope of present is something that takes practice to do. To me, it is very similar to meditation in that focus is pinpointed at something in attempts to distract from another. Even the best scholars practicing this technique still admit that it is a struggle at times. We are fighting our intrinsic patterns of behavior. It's importance, however, cannot be denied. It lowers our blood pressure, heightens our awareness and lengthens our lives.
Shit happened, happpens and will happen. It's how you're deal with it right now that makes the difference. Try it yourself.
(there it is.. my first real blog! What do you think???)
