Do you live for the present? In a Utopia, we'd all live that way. But we're human. Our minds have the ability to consume us with troubles of the past and worries about the future. Freeing ourselves from these metaphysical chains is an arduous task but a substantially important one. Living in the present can lead you towards a most balanced lifestyle. I am not saying you should squander your savings and live dangerously. The present is more minute than you think.
Maybe the issue why we humans have problems with the concept is that the past, present and future have too large of a scale for the brain to properly decipher. For example, the sentence I just wrote is technically in the past and the one I'm about to write is in the future. How do we pinpoint the present? It is a fleeting infinitely small amount of time.
Balancing on the tightrope of present is something that takes practice to do. To me, it is very similar to meditation in that focus is pinpointed at something in attempts to distract from another. Even the best scholars practicing this technique still admit that it is a struggle at times. We are fighting our intrinsic patterns of behavior. It's importance, however, cannot be denied. It lowers our blood pressure, heightens our awareness and lengthens our lives.
Shit happened, happpens and will happen. It's how you're deal with it right now that makes the difference. Try it yourself.
(there it is.. my first real blog! What do you think???)
